St. Louis Cardinals legend Albert Pujols will reportedly meet with the Houston Astros to discuss the team’s managerial vacancy, as reported by sports.yahoo.com citing The Athletic.
Previous Managerial Interviews
This upcoming meeting marks another opportunity for Pujols to secure an MLB managerial role. Last season, he interviewed for vacant manager positions with both the Los Angeles Angels and the San Diego Padres, though neither team ultimately hired him.
The Padres decided to hire Craig Stammen for their position. Meanwhile, reports indicated that the Angels held interest in Pujols, but the two parties failed to reach an agreement on contract terms, leading the team to hire Kurt Suzuki instead.
Coaching Experience
Although Pujols lacks major league managerial experience, he has served as a skipper elsewhere. After retiring from his playing career following the 2022 season, he took over as manager of the Leones del Escogido, a professional baseball club in the Dominican Republic, in 2024.
During his tenure, he guided the squad to a victory in the Serie Final for the 2024-25 season as well as the 2025 Caribbean Series.
Further updates on this developing story will be provided as more information becomes available.
