Lewis Hamilton has shared his desire to finish the Formula 1 season on a high note as Ferrari prepares for the upcoming Mexico Grand Prix and final stretch of the year. According to Latest F1 News (formula1.com), the British driver emphasized that the entire team and factory staff deserve strong results for their hard efforts.
Focus on Engine Power and Reliability
Ferrari’s 2026 challenger excels in cornering performance, yet it has faced difficulties matching the power units produced by competitors like Mercedes and Red Bull. Hamilton highlighted power delivery as the main subject the team must address for the rest of the campaign and in preparation for 2027 if they hope to fight for the world title.
“I think the engine is probably number one [priority]. We’ve got reliability, which is good. But if we were matching the power of the others, we would be fighting for the championship this year, which we know,” Hamilton stated to Latest F1 News (formula1.com).
The veteran racer expressed full confidence in the workforce at the factory, noting that closing the power deficit will prove challenging but achievable through relentless work.
Improving Car Balance and Downforce
Alongside engine development, Hamilton pointed out the ongoing search for increased downforce and a broader operating window for the car. He explained that the current setup window remains notably narrow, making it difficult to maintain peak performance consistently throughout a race weekend.
“And then with the car, you always want more downforce. You’re always looking for a wider window in which the car works better. At the moment, it’s quite narrow. When you get it right, it’s good, but it’s very narrow, and you’re in and out of it,” Hamilton added.
The team will look to maximize their weekend performance starting at the Mexico Grand Prix.
