Former Houston Astros executive Dana Brown is returning to the Atlanta Braves front office to work in amateur scouting, as reported by Yahoo Sports.
Executive Return and Roster Updates for Atlanta
Brown previously played a key role in draft operations for Atlanta under President of Baseball Operations Alex Anthopoulos before departing to take the top executive position with the Astros. Following a stint in Houston characterized by mixed results and ownership involvement, Brown now rejoins the Braves’ talent evaluation team.
In addition to the executive hire, the Braves brought back utility player Vidal Brujan on a minor league contract. The former top prospect returns to add organizational depth. Atlanta also reviewed the 2026 performance of veteran pitcher Carlos Carrasco in what could mark the conclusion of his professional career.
Roster Decisions Across Major League Baseball
Roster activity picked up across the league as teams evaluated contract options. The Tampa Bay Rays began adjusting their 40-man roster by sending a Triple-A relief pitcher to the Houston Astros for cash considerations. Tampa Bay also exercised its team option to retain starting pitcher Drew Rasmussen for the upcoming season.
In other moves, the San Diego Padres declined their option on pitcher Nick Pivetta, sending him to free agency. The Baltimore Orioles similarly declined their club option on outfielder Luis Robert Jr.
