Is Jadarian Price playing on MNF? Seahawks RB injury update

Week 8 concludes on Monday night in Seattle, as the Seahawks with a 4-3 record host the 5-2 Chicago Bears at Lumen Field. Running back Zach Charbonnet, who tore his ACL in Seattle’s NFC divisional round playoff win against the San Francisco 49ers in January, is primed to make his 2026 season debut. He does not carry a game status on Seattle’s final injury report, which indicates he will be available to play. Meanwhile, the situation for first-round rookie running back Jadarian Price is slightly murkier.

Jadarian Price Injury Status and Roster Decision

Price has missed the last four games due to a chest injury while placed on injured reserve, and he needed to be activated by 4 p.m. on Monday. Seattle, however, has already designated Price to return, with ESPN among the outlets reporting that he will play. Head coach Mike Macdonald commented on the status by stating that they would let the transaction speak for itself.

If the defending Super Bowl champions intend to defeat the strong Bears attack led by quarterback Caleb Williams, the Seahawks will need to run the football effectively. Establishing the run game will keep Williams on the sideline while also slowing down Chicago’s pass rush. That second part is crucial for Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold, given that he holds the NFL’s worst expected points added per dropback when pressured at -0.63. To address this issue, Seattle traded for Quenton Nelson, and there is a strong chance Nelson will be able to block for both of the team’s top backs during his Seattle debut.

Coaching Plans and Alternative Options

Macdonald addressed the backfield strategy on Saturday by noting that they have a plan in place for both Zach Charbonnet and Jadarian Price. He added that if they were to make a roster move, it would happen on Monday, and they were still working through ongoing roster decisions.

The Seahawks were not strictly forced to activate Price on Monday, as they still possessed two additional weeks to evaluate his status before he would have been required to move to season-ending injured reserve. In the event that Price had not been activated for Week 8, Charbonnet would likely have shared the rushing workload with Emanuel Wilson. Wilson currently leads the Seahawks in rushing yards with 403, rushing touchdowns with three, and carries with 111.
