Arizona Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love is heading to injured reserve due to a high ankle sprain sustained during Sunday’s overtime victory against the Dallas Cowboys. The injury will sidelining the young player for four to five weeks.
Season-Long Struggles With Injuries
This setback marks Love’s second ankle injury of the 2024 campaign, following a previous ankle issue suffered during the preseason. The latest injury occurred in the first half of Sunday’s game when multiple Cowboys defenders brought him down on a tackle.
Across six appearances this year, Love has accumulated 268 rushing yards and one touchdown while averaging 3.5 yards per carry, alongside 11 receptions and one receiving touchdown.
Standout Performance and Replacement Plan
The rookie’s most productive outing came against the San Francisco 49ers, where he tallied 90 rushing yards on 21 carries and caught five targets for a touchdown in a 36-30 defeat.
Following Love’s departure to the injured list, the Cardinals will shift a heavier workload to Tyler Allgeier, who paces the team with 323 rushing yards. Allgeier, formerly a backup in Atlanta, put up 191 total yards and two touchdowns in the weekend win over Dallas.
