Bengals and Titans Make NFL History With Rare Scorigami Score

The Cincinnati Bengals and Tennessee Titans delivered a thrilling Week 8 matchup that ended in a historic 43-36 overtime victory. According to CBS Sports Headlines, the final score marked a “scorigami,” happening for the first time in the 107-year history of the NFL.

Joe Burrow’s Historic Performance

With less than four minutes remaining in regulation, the Titans held a 36-29 lead before Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow orchestrated an 81-yard drive. Burrow connected with Tee Higgins on an 18-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 36-36 with just 1:17 left on the clock.

In overtime, the Bengals received the ball first, and Burrow drove the team down the field with four completions for 51 yards. He finished the possession with a nine-yard rushing touchdown to secure the 43-36 final score, representing the 1,098th unique score in league history.

Despite throwing three interceptions, Burrow joined an exclusive club as only the second player in NFL history to record at least 450 passing yards, five touchdown passes, and one rushing touchdown in a single game. He finished the contest with 462 passing yards and five passing touchdowns while relying heavily on targets Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase, who both surpassed 140 receiving yards.

Unusual Game Flow Leads to Scorigami

The path to the unprecedented final score involved several uncommon game events, starting with a third-quarter safety that gave Cincinnati a 23-21 lead after the score had been tied at 21. Tennessee later responded with a touchdown to go ahead 28-23, and Cincinnati answered to reclaim a 29-28 lead while failing on a two-point conversion attempt.

This result marked the Bengals’ first scorigami since 2022, when they defeated the New England Patriots 22-18, and the Titans’ first since a 45-26 win over the Detroit Lions in 2020.

The game produced the third scorigami of the 2026 NFL season, following two that occurred during Week 1 nearly two months prior. With fewer available unique scores remaining, scorigamis continue to grow rarer, matching last year’s total of four occurrences with at least one more needed to equal that mark.
