The PGA Tour concludes its two-week Mexico Swing this week at El Cardonal at Diamante in Los Cabos for the World Wide Technology Championship. Located on the Baja Peninsula, the desert-style resort course was designed by Tiger Woods and regularly produces very low winning scores.
Course Background and Top Contenders
Opened in 2014, El Cardonal features wide fairways and large, contoured greens, allowing winners to reach the mid-to-high 20s under par, as seen with past champions Erik van Rooyen, Austin Eckroat, and Ben Griffin. Griffin returns to defend his title following a tied-for-fourth finish at Vidanta, heading a field that includes top-30 players like Ryan Gerard.
DraftKings Plays and Fades: $9,000+ Range
Ben James ($9,900) stands out as a top play in the upper tier, entering with strong recent form that includes a runner-up finish and a tie for 16th at the Mexico Open. Over the past three months, he leads the field in strokes gained per round and excels in birdie-or-better rates. Conversely, Keith Mitchell ($9,600) is a fade due to his high price tag and historically poor results in Mexico, where he has struggled on the greens at El Cardonal.
DraftKings Plays and Fades: $8,000+ Range
Ben Kohles ($8,500) is recommended as the best iron player in the field, ranking first in strokes gained on approach over the last year and carrying an 11-event streak of finishing 29th or better. Meanwhile, Pierceson Coody ($8,600) is a fade despite a recent sixth-place finish in Mexico, as his overall fall form has been inconsistent and his short game remains a weakness on paspalum greens.
Value Plays in the $7,000 and $6,000 Ranges
Rico Hoey ($7,600) makes a strong option in the $7,000 range, having improved his standing at El Cardonal from 45th in 2024 to 21st last year while ranking top 10 in the field on par 5s. In the $6,000 range, Ben Silverman ($6,700) is playing his best golf of the year following a third-place finish in Bermuda and a tie for 19th at the Mexico Open.
The tournament runs through the weekend in Los Cabos as players compete for the title on the Tiger Woods-designed layout.
