Hampshire have secured the signing of all-rounder Saif Zaib following his departure from Northamptonshire.
Joining Hampshire on a Multi-Year Contract
The 28-year-old has signed a multi-year deal at the Utilita Bowl after spending 13 years with Northamptonshire. During his time at the County Ground, Zaib made over 200 appearances and accumulated more than 7,300 runs across all formats, helping the team secure a third T20 Blast title over the summer.
Expressing his thoughts on the move, Zaib told Hampshire’s website that he is excited to begin a new chapter with a highly competitive and ambitious club. He stated that he loved his time at Northamptonshire and thanked them for the opportunity to play professional cricket, but decided the time had come for a change.
Zaib outlined his ambitions to help Hampshire return to Division One and contribute to winning matches and tournaments. He noted that the team is a great force in white-ball cricket and expressed hope of being part of their success next season and beyond.
Chasing a Return to Division One
Hampshire suffered relegation from Division One of the County Championship last season, marking their first drop since earning promotion in 2014.
