PGA Tour Names New Austin Event Sponsor After Good Good Exit

The PGA Tour has secured a new sponsor for its upcoming Austin event following the termination of its previous partnership with YouTube influencer brand Good Good. Compliance Solutions was named as the presenting sponsor for the inaugural Austin Championship, which gets underway next week at the Omni Barton Creek Resort and Spa’s Fazio Canyons Course in Austin.

New Sponsorship and Tournament Background

Compliance Solutions is an accounting and tax service provider headquartered in Longwood, Florida. The firm already maintains an established relationship with the tour through its sponsorships of Korn Ferry Tour and Champions circuit events. Dan Glod, the tour’s executive vice president, expressed pride in securing the company’s commitment and support as the organization prepares to launch the brand-new tournament.

The new agreement brings stability following a turbulent buildup to the competition. The tour initially announced a partnership with Good Good last October to host a fall tournament. The apparel company and popular YouTube channel holds a significant following among younger golfers. The arrangement was also set to coincide with the Golf Channel revival of the television show “The Big Break,” which was slated to award the winner an exemption into the Austin field.

The Good Good Controversy

Plans unraveled in August when Good Good published a promotional video depicting a physical altercation where a man shoved a woman to the ground over a new Callaway driver. The advertisement, designed as a parody of the film “Obsession,” faced swift and widespread backlash. Public criticism intensified due to delayed apologies from the company that observers felt lacked accountability.

PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp publicly addressed the controversy during a press conference at the Tour Championship, stating that the content was concerning and failed to align with PGA Tour values. He further characterized the company’s reaction as defensive and late. In response, the PGA Tour terminated Good Good’s sponsorship of the tournament, while the Golf Channel canceled its planned reboot of “The Big Break.”

Major retailers including Dick’s Sporting Goods, Golf Galaxy, and the PGA Tour Superstore pulled Good Good-Callaway merchandise from their physical and online storefronts. Callaway subsequently terminated its partnership with Good Good, and the influencer brand’s top two executives departed their roles.

The Austin Championship serves as the penultimate tournament on the FedEx Cup Fall schedule, with the season concluding the following week in Sea Island.
