Golf star Wyndham Clark has a new caddie for the VidantaWorld Mexico Open, and the job belongs to someone very close to him. His regular caddie, David Pelekoudas, requested time off months in advance to attend a close friend’s wedding in Italy. When Clark decided to enter the tournament, he needed a temporary replacement.
An Ultimatum Secures the Bag
With a vacancy on the bag, Clark’s younger brother, Brendan Clark, seized the opportunity. Brendan used his own upcoming wedding to issue a playful ultimatum to the former U.S. Open champion, telling him that he had to hire him as his caddie or else lose his wedding invitation.
Clark stated that he was thrilled to accept the arrangement and spend quality time with his sibling. Because Brendan resides in Kansas City and Clark lives in Arizona, the brothers do not see each other as often as they would prefer, making the tournament a special week for them both.
Chasing a Big Payday for the Wedding
Beyond the family bonding, Clark expressed hope that a strong performance on the course would yield a substantial paycheck to help offset his brother’s upcoming wedding and honeymoon expenses. The winner’s prize at the tournament stands at $1.08 million, and caddies typically collect between 5 and 10 percent of a player’s earnings.
If Clark secures his fourth victory of the year, Brendan could earn a payout exceeding $100,000. Both couples also plan to treat the tournament week like a vacation.
