The NFL schedule for Week 8 brings a reprieve from international games, featuring domestic matchups that could preview the postseason, including Ravens vs. Bills, Vikings vs. Lions, Chiefs vs. Broncos, and Bears vs. Seahawks. Several spreads stand out on the board, highlighted by the Patriots giving 7 points to Miami and various other large lines across the league.
Computer Model Performance and Key Matchups
According to CBS Sports Headlines, an advanced computer model that simulates every NFL game 10,000 times has generated strong returns since its inception, sitting up more than $5,000 for $100 players on top-rated picks. The model entered Week 8 of the 2026 NFL season on a 58-51 run on top-rated selections dating back to 2024.
Among its strongest Week 8 predictions, the model backs the Steelers (-3.5, 39.5) to cover at home against the Browns. Pittsburgh carries a 22-game home winning streak against Cleveland dating back to 2004. This season, Pittsburgh holds a 3-0 ATS record at home, whereas Cleveland’s offense ranks No. 28 in scoring and struggles to keep pace with a Steelers squad that has scored 30-plus points in consecutive home games.
Rams vs. Chargers Prediction
Another top prediction from the model has the Rams (-7, 45) covering against the Chargers in their Los Angeles showdown. The Chargers enter the matchup as the league’s last winless team against the spread, having dropped nine straight contests dating back to last year while turning the ball over twice as often as they have scored touchdowns over that stretch.
Meanwhile, Sean McVay’s team holds a 6-2 record against the spread in non-conference games since 2025, marking the second-best spread record in the NFL. The model projects the Rams to secure a touchdown-plus victory while the Over hits in more than 60% of simulations.
