Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods’ teams will headline an opening night double-header to launch an expanded third season of the TGL, broadcast live on Sky Sports. The tech-infused indoor team golf league features PGA Tour stars competing in a custom-built arena, with the upcoming tournament expanding to comprise seven teams featuring five-player rosters.
Season Launch and Opening Matches
The third season begins on December 27 at the SoFi Center, with Woods and McIlroy returning alongside at least 12 new PGA Tour players joining the league ahead of the 2027 campaign. McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf, which added Shane Lowry in the off-season, starts its campaign against the newly formed Motor City Golf Club, featuring Brooks Koepka and rising player Jackson Koivun, as reported by SkySports.
Woods’ Jupiter Links Golf Club plays in the same double-header against defending champions Los Angeles Golf Club in a rematch of the previous season’s SoFi Cup Finals. The 50-year-old Woods held a non-playing role with Jupiter Links GC during the previous season due to injury, making his sole appearance in the season finale. However, former teammate Kevin Kisner revealed on the Fore Play Podcast that Woods plans a full schedule for the upcoming season.
“I’m not on the team anymore,” Kisner told the Fore Play Podcast, explaining that Woods wants to play and that the team signed Keith Mitchell. Kisner added that Rob McNamara, who works closely with Woods, texted him to explain their roster decisions and to confirm that Tiger wanted to play a full schedule.
Tournament Format and Schedule
The regular season requires each team to play four group fixtures, utilizing three players from each squad in every match. The semi-finals take place the week beginning March 15, followed by a best-of-three Finals Series running on March 22 and 23.
