The primary question facing TGL ahead of its 2027 season remains Tiger Woods’ exact role, but the league’s most encouraging development lies in its recent offseason player signings. As reported by sports.yahoo.com, TGL has added a seventh team and expanded all rosters to five professionals, securing strong buy-in from major names on the PGA Tour.
Departing Players
Xander Schauffele has stepped away to spend more time on the West Coast, marking a notable loss for the New York Golf Club given his engaging presence. Adam Scott also departed ahead of season three due to the logistical challenges of traveling from his home to the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. In addition, Kevin Kisner and Lucas Glover were not renewed by their respective teams, with Kisner confirming his two-year contract had expired.
The 2027 Rookie Class
The incoming rookie class features 14 professionals, starting with five-time major champion Brooks Koepka headlining the expansion Motor City Golf Club. Koepka noted that the league offers something to do and suggested it could provide a competitive edge. Six trending and popular players have also joined the ranks: Ryan Fox, Si Woo Kim, Jake Knapp, Bud Cauley, Keith Mitchell, and Ben Griffin.
The rookie class is further bolstered by a wave of young stars who recently dominated the PGA Tour. Jackson Koivun, Michael Thorbjornsen, and Michael Brennan all secured victories during a strong stretch for players 25 and under, and now all three compete in TGL. They are joined by PGA Tour University leader Ben James, Alex Fitzpatrick playing alongside his brother Matt for New York, teenager and Korn Ferry Tour card earner Blades Brown, and three-time 2026 winner Chris Gotterup.
Upcoming Season Schedule
TGL kicks off its new season on December 27, following the WTGL debut in November, proving the league extends far beyond just a Tiger Woods showcase.
