Haas F1 Team Principal Ayao Komatsu announced that Esteban Ocon will not return to a race seat with the team for the remainder of the season, with Rafael Camara stepping in for his Formula 1 debut at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Team Principal Statement on Ocon and Camara
According to Team Principal Ayao Komatsu, the organization informed Esteban Ocon that he is out of the race seat for the rest of the year. Komatsu explained that choices of this nature are difficult, echoing the situation in Mexico City, but maintained that the decision serves the team’s best interests for the future. Komatsu also stated that the discussions between the team and Ocon will remain private, noting that the organization respects the confidential nature of such closed-door matters.
For the upcoming weekend in Brazil, the team selected Rafael Camara to pilot the VF-26 alongside Ollie Bearman. Komatsu highlighted Camara’s strong performance during a Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) outing in August as evidence of his abilities, adding that the team is eager to welcome him for his debut.
