The PGA Tour is set to recoup a portion of the $6 million financial void created by its recent split with golf content creator group Good Good Golf. The group had originally planned to host and sponsor a new tournament scheduled in Austin for next month.
New Presenting Sponsor Steps In
Compliance Solutions, a tax services company based in Florida, is set to become a presenting sponsor for the newly renamed Austin Championship, according to sources familiar with the matter reported by Front Office Sports. The agreement is limited to the current year, and the company will not cover the full $6 million amount that Good Good was originally scheduled to pay as the primary tournament host and sponsor.
The partnership came together more easily due to an existing relationship between the parties. Compliance Solutions has previously sponsored a $1.5 million Korn Ferry Tour event located in Owasso, Oklahoma, on the PGA Tour development circuit since 2023. With practice rounds for the Austin Championship beginning in just 11 days, the company has a very limited timeframe to promote its backing, resulting in a reduced financial value for the deal compared to a complete naming rights agreement.
Background on the Good Good Split
The tournament was originally named the Good Good Championship before being changed to the Austin Championship. The alteration occurred after the creator group ended its PGA Tour sponsorship on August 27 following widespread backlash over a controversial driver advertisement created with Callaway. Despite the separation, the PGA Tour proceeded with plans to hold the event as scheduled from November 12 to November 15 at the Omni Barton Creek resort, while maintaining the tournament’s $6 million prize purse.
Following the termination of both its PGA Tour and Callaway partnerships in late August, Good Good has faced additional setbacks, including the cancellation of its Golf Channel program and the removal of its merchandise from retail stores nationwide. The PGA Tour declined to comment regarding the new sponsorship arrangement.
