Arsenal head coach Renée Slegers spoke to Sky Sports following her team’s victory, expressing her satisfaction with the result at Anfield. She described the win as very good for the squad, noting that playing away against Liverpool is a difficult challenge and that appearing at a historic ground is an honor.
Praise for First-Half Energy
Slegers stated that she was happy to secure the three points, especially after failing to win their home fixture the previous weekend when they really needed a victory. She pointed out that the team’s approach in the first half displayed great energy, resulting in two well-scored goals.
Defending the Lead Under Pressure
Addressing Liverpool’s performance, Slegers explained that the opponents are a good team who spent a significant amount of time in possession. This forced Arsenal to spend more time than usual defending without the ball.
She added that Liverpool asked difficult questions toward the end of the match. Slegers expressed her pride in the players, highlighting their fight, passion, and commitment to the club as they put bodies on the line to defend their goal and secure the win.
