Third baseman Mario Camilletti has been named the No. 95 overall prospect in the Chicago White Sox organization on the 2027 South Side Sox rankings. The 27-year-old spent the 2026 season with the Triple-A Charlotte Knights, posting a .263/.383/.387 slash line with nine home runs, 53 RBIs, and 70 walks over 113 games.
College Background and Professional Debut
The White Sox selected Camilletti, who stands 5-foot-7 and weighs 195 pounds, out of Central Michigan University in the eighth round with the No. 251 overall pick in the 2022 MLB draft. Originally a second baseman, he drew 207 walks during five collegiate seasons. In 2020, he earned first-team All-Region and All-American honors after recording a .502 on-base percentage and walking twice as often as he struck out.
Following the draft, Camilletti made his professional debut late in 2022 by playing two games in the Arizona Complex League. He advanced to High-A during the 2023 campaign, displaying plate discipline while beginning to log occasional time at third base in addition to middle infield duties.
Minor League Progression
An early-season injury delayed Camilletti’s start to the 2024 season. Upon returning, he split time between High-A and Double-A Birmingham, helping the Barons capture the Southern League championship while maintaining a high on-base percentage.
By 2025, Camilletti made his debut at the Triple-A level. During that season, his on-base percentage declined, and he transitioned primarily to third base due to organizational roster needs. South Side Sox reported that the position change was driven by positional depth priorities in the middle infield rather than purely defensive performance.
Recent Performance and 2027 Outlook
In 2026, Camilletti spent the full season in Charlotte, recording a .960 fielding percentage, 2.4 WAR, and seven stolen bases in 12 attempts. He ranked fifth among all third-baseman prospects in the White Sox system. South Side Sox previously ranked him as the organization’s No. 50 prospect in 2023, No. 40 in 2024, No. 56 in 2025, and No. 82 in 2026.
Camilletti is expected to return to Triple-A Charlotte for the 2027 season, serving as depth while assisting the Knights in their International League campaign.
