Lando Norris has expressed a cautious outlook regarding the new upgrades McLaren is bringing to the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Following the race in Mexico, the British driver remains optimistic about making further improvements to his car heading into the weekend.
McLaren Brings Minor Car Updates
According to Formula1.com, McLaren is introducing a few minor additions to the car for the upcoming event, with the team hoping these adjustments will steer the vehicle in a more positive direction. Norris stated, “We’ve got some small things to add to the car this weekend, so we hope that can move us in a better direction.”
Handling Challenges and Performance Goals
Norris noted that the new parts might not necessarily improve the car’s handling characteristics. He explained, “I don’t know if it’s going to make it easier to drive. It could even make it harder to drive, but hopefully the performance takes a step forward. So maybe then you can adjust some things to potentially make it more consistent.”
The team continues to focus heavily on developing the current season’s machine to enhance overall speed and better match driver requirements when pushing to the absolute limit. Norris added, “The team are working very, very hard on trying to improve this year’s car to make it not just quicker, but also a car that is more compliant with what a driver needs when trying to extract the limit.”
Reflecting on the vehicle’s underlying pace, Norris acknowledged that while the inherent potential is strong, unlocking it consistently remains a complex task. He concluded, “There’s always been very good potential, but getting it out of the car is not always very easy. So hopefully we can make some small changes this weekend.”
