Kimi Antonelli has barely had a moment to catch his breath since clinching the 2026 world title in the high-altitude surroundings of Mexico City’s Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. The young Italian was still beaming when he touched down in Brazil for the final phase of an action-packed triple header.
Antonelli’s title celebrations
Antonelli drove to a third-place finish behind Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton and Red Bull competitor Max Verstappen last weekend. He achieved this result despite feeling the effects of illness and managing the pressure of sealing the championship. That performance was enough to put the title beyond mathematical doubt and spark a long line of emotional celebrations and media duties.
Those celebrations continued after Antonelli made the approximately nine-hour flight to Sao Paulo. On Wednesday, he spoke at a special press conference with Mercedes’ Title and Technical Partner Petronas, reflecting on the events that had taken place about 72 hours earlier.
