Seahawks face heavy injuries ahead of game against Cardinals

The Seattle Seahawks face a significant number of injuries as they prepare for a crucial NFC West matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, based on the estimated injury report released on Wednesday.

Seahawks Offense and Quarterback Situation

A total of six players sat out practice due to injuries, including quarterback Sam Darnold, left tackle Charles Cross, and star defensive tackle Leonard Williams. Williams was sidelined due to a stinger sustained on Monday night against the Chicago Bears, which would create a severe void for the defensive front, particularly against the run. Nose tackle Brandon Pili also missed the session with a back injury, straining defensive depth ahead of a matchup featuring running back Tyler Allgeier.

Coach Mike Macdonald stated that backup quarterback Drew Lock would step in for Darnold. Lock has dealt with a right elbow issue for the past three weeks, missed the previous two games as inactive, and was limited during Wednesday’s practice. Should Lock be unable to play, second-year signal-caller Jalen Milroe would be forced to make his first career NFL start.

Along the offensive line, newly acquired guard Quenton Nelson and backup Anthony Bradford were both limited by knee injuries. With Josh Jones expected to start another week at left tackle, additional frontline injuries compound concerns for the team.

Wide receiver Rashid Shaheed missed practice and seems positioned to sit out for a second consecutive week, though his backup, Tory Horton, participated fully despite a hand injury.

Defensive Updates and Cardinals Status

The defensive injury report offered mixed developments for Seattle. Edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu, who was sidelined last week, participated on a limited basis with an ankle injury, while Nick Emmanwori was a full participant despite a shoulder issue. Their potential returns would provide a much-needed lift for a defense that surrendered 34 points on Monday.

For the Cardinals, standout wide receiver Michael Wilson was limited in practice due to rest and a rib injury, though he retains a chance to play on Sunday. Wilson suffered two broken ribs last week while recording 111 yards and a touchdown on eight receptions during a victory over the Dallas Cowboys. Defensive tackle Walter Nolen was also limited by an ankle injury.

Arizona will likely play without running back Bam Knight, who missed Wednesday’s practice because of a concussion. The Cardinals also kept star players Budda Baker and Josh Sweat out of practice for non-injury reasons, while quarterback Jacoby Brissett was held out for rest as he was traded to the Baltimore Ravens.
