Arsenal secured their third victory in four matches in the Champions League following a 2-1 win against Slavia Prague, thanks to first-half goals from Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres. The latest result leaves Mikel Arteta’s side unbeaten in the league phase of the competition.
First-Half Dominance
Coming off a 1-0 win at Liverpool in the Premier League, Arsenal effectively sealed the contest within the opening 45 minutes on the same date they faced Slavia Prague last season. Madueke opened the scoring by running onto a pass from Gyokeres and finishing clinically across goal into the bottom-left corner after the Swedish striker held up the ball and sent him through down the right flank.
Mikel Merino missed three opportunities to extend the lead, with Nazar Domchak denying him twice, but Merino later provided the assist for Arsenal’s second goal. After exchanging passes with Merino, Gyokeres worked the ball onto his foot and bent a strike past Domchak to give the visitors complete control.
Defensive Solidity Secures the Win
Slavia Prague attempted to mount a comeback in the second half, with Oskar Kubiak forcing a sharp save from David Raya shortly after the restart. However, Arsenal maintained their defensive organization, mirroring their performance at Anfield the previous weekend, as Gabriel cleared a header from Mojmír Chytil off the line.
Wiktor Nowak eventually scored a late consolation goal for the hosts by turning in a cross from David Jurasek, but it proved too late to change the outcome. Arsenal will return to domestic action against Hull City in the Premier League, while Slavia Prague prepares to face Villarreal in their next Champions League fixture.
