Tiger Woods Announces New Private Golf Course on Long Island

Tiger Woods has officially shifted his focus from the fairway to the blueprint by confirming a partnership to build a new 18-hole private course in Brookville, New York on Monday, November 2.

A Major New Project on the Gold Coast

This development is a massive entry into the historic Gold Coast region. Woods will partner with The Armchair Collective to design the layout at the former site of the Tam O’Shanter Country Club. The ambitious plan features a 20,000-square-foot putting green along with a full performance center, with a completely new redesign scheduled to begin in 2027.

Woods shared the news directly on his Instagram account by stating that he and TGR Design are thrilled to partner with The Armchair Collective to design a new 18-hole private golf course in the Village of Brookville on Long Island’s Gold Coast.

He added that Long Island hosts some of the most celebrated golf courses in the country, and expressed anticipation about contributing to the region’s rich golf history. Site preparation is currently underway, and the club name alongside initial design renderings are expected to be released early next year.

Expanding Design Portfolio

This architectural venture follows previous TGR Design projects such as Bluejack National in Texas, Payne’s Valley in Missouri, and El Cardonal in Mexico, which hosted a PGA Tour event in 2023. Long Island presents a challenging architectural market alongside renowned courses like Shinnecock Hills and Bethpage Black.

As reported by sports.yahoo.com citing GolfMagic, this project coincides with other ambitions, including a potential £30 million links course at Bellarena that remains in development. Meanwhile, Woods’ son Charlie recently helped Benjamin High School secure a regional championship in Florida by shooting a 1-under 70 at Miami Shores Country Club.

The Brookville project breathes new life into a club that closed in 2021, establishing a permanent legacy for future generations of golfers as Woods continues his transition from competitive play to course design.
