Carlos Alcaraz holds a challenging record at the Paris Masters, making the French indoor tournament his worst-performing ATP 1000 event as he looks ahead to future appearances.
Paris Masters History and Results
Alcaraz has made five previous appearances at the Paris Masters but has never progressed past the quarter-finals. Across 10 matches at the event, he has secured just five victories, matching the Canadian Open for his equal-lowest win percentage at a Masters 1000 tournament despite having played in Canada only twice.
His best result in Paris came in 2022 when he reached the quarter-finals before retiring against eventual champion Holger Rune due to an abdominal injury. In his other four appearances, he failed to reach the third round twice and suffered two defeats against qualifiers. His historical results in the French capital feature a third-round exit to qualifier Hugo Gaston in 2021, a second-round defeat to qualifier Roman Safiullin in 2023, a third-round loss to 15th seed Ugo Humbert in 2024, and a second-round defeat against Cameron Norrie.
Court Speeds and Tournament Conditions
Following his loss to Humbert, Alcaraz expressed frustration regarding the speed of the tournament courts, suggesting they were overly fast. He noted that slowing the courts down would generate more rallies and a better spectacle for fans, though he acknowledged that players must adapt to changing weekly conditions.
The Paris Masters courts were subsequently slowed down for the 2025 tournament, a change that drew praise from the Spanish star, who noted that the adjusted speed allowed for longer rallies and comprehensive tennis rather than relying solely on serves. Nevertheless, the modification did not prevent another early tournament exit, leaving Alcaraz determined to improve his fortunes in upcoming campaigns.
The main draw of the 2026 Paris Masters is scheduled to begin on Monday, November 2.
