Newcastle United have an immediate opportunity for revenge when they host Everton in the Premier League on Monday at 8:00pm. The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League, with streaming available via Sky Go.
Match Preview and Recent Form
The Magpies saw their League Cup hopes ended by Everton in a 3-1 defeat in the last 16. Just four days later, the two sides meet again in the league, where Newcastle sit one point above the Toffees following a 2-0 away win against Crystal Palace.
Manager Matthias Jaissle faces renewed scrutiny after his side struggled in previous Monday night fixtures this season, suffering 4-1 defeats away to Leeds United and Coventry City. In both the Coventry game and the recent cup loss, Newcastle dominated possession and shots but fell victim to opponents who capitalized on counter-attacks.
David Moyes’ Everton side will look to bounce back from two consecutive Premier League defeats. A victory could lift the Toffees into the top seven. However, Everton are winless in their last nine away league matches since February.
Team News and Expected Line-ups
Newcastle remain without Tino Livramento, while Lewis Miley (knock), Matias Fernandez-Pardo (illness), and Will Osula (twisted ankle) are doubts. For Everton, Jack Grealish’s availability is uncertain following a breach of club discipline, though defender Jarrad Branthwaite hopes to return from a concussion.
Newcastle expected line-up: Hornicek; Dedic, Thiaw, Burn, Hall; Gonzalez, Joelinton; Elanga, Willock, Barnes; Osula.
Everton expected line-up: Pickford; Rohl, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Hackney, Garner; Dibling, Dewsbury-Hall, George; Barry.
