The Minnesota Vikings stand as the NFL’s sole remaining undefeated team following the conclusion of Week 7 action. Meanwhile, primary Super Bowl contenders including the Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, and Philadelphia Eagles all suffered notable setbacks.

Seattle Stuns Chiefs as 49ers Suffer First Defeat

The Seattle Seahawks delivered a dominant defensive performance to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs 20-3. Seattle’s defense held Chiefs running back Kenneth Walker—who returned to face his former club after leading the league in rushing yards per game—to just 36 yards on 14 carries. The Chiefs matched their lowest point total during Patrick Mahomes’ tenure as starting quarterback, while Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold targeted Jaxon Smith-Njigba for 150 receiving yards and a touchdown. Running back Emanuel Wilson added 100 rushing yards and a score to lift Seattle to a 4-3 record, while Kansas City fell to 5-1.

The Atlanta Falcons handed the San Francisco 49ers their first loss of the season with a 29-20 victory. Atlanta forced four turnovers, including two interceptions from Brock Purdy, dropping the 49ers to 6-1. In the same division, the Los Angeles Rams moved to 3-4 after a 35-21 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Quarterback Matthew Stafford made history by becoming the first NFL player to lead two different franchises in touchdown passes, having previously achieved the milestone with the Detroit Lions. Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins edged the New York Jets 28-25, leaving the Los Angeles Chargers as the league’s only remaining winless squad.

Vikings Remain Perfect in Competitive NFC North

The Minnesota Vikings extended their winning streak to 11 games dating back to last season after overcoming a deficit to beat the Indianapolis Colts 16-10 at home. Now sitting at 6-0, the Vikings lead an NFC North division where every team boasts a winning record. Former Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy, who was traded to the New York Giants four weeks ago after Minnesota named Kyler Murray its starter, led his new team to a 27-21 overtime win against the Houston Texans in his first start.

Elsewhere in the division, the Detroit Lions secured a late 20-17 victory over the Green Bay Packers thanks to an expiring field goal from Jessie Bates. Green Bay rookie kicker Trey Smack missed two field goals from inside 35 yards during the contest.

Eagles’ Slump Deepens Against Cowboys

The Philadelphia Eagles suffered their fifth consecutive loss, falling 38-21 at home against the Dallas Cowboys. Dak Prescott threw three touchdown passes to end a two-game skid for Dallas and capture their first victory in Philadelphia since 2021. The Eagles, who dropped to 2-5 on the season, were further hampered by news that star quarterback Jalen Hurts is dealing with a blood clot that could potentially end his season.

AFC North Clashes and Broncos Resurgence

In the AFC North, where all four franchises hold at least four wins, the Pittsburgh Steelers opened the weekend with a 16-10 win over the New Orleans Saints in the NFL’s inaugural game in France. The Cleveland Browns improved to 5-2 after Andre Szmyt converted a game-winning kick to secure a 27-24 win over the Tennessee Titans. Deshaun Watson orchestrated his fifth game-winning drive of the campaign to keep Cleveland atop the division.

The Cincinnati Bengals rallied past the Baltimore Ravens 35-13 after trailing 13-0 at halftime. Joe Burrow threw four touchdown passes and accumulated 292 passing yards as Baltimore struggled in the absence of injured quarterback Lamar Jackson.

In the AFC West, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix produced a historic 62-yard rushing touchdown—the longest by an NFL quarterback since 2022—alongside 222 passing yards and a touchdown pass in a 30-16 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. The win elevates Denver to 5-2 ahead of their upcoming matchup against Kansas City.
