Eagles Trade Rumors: Saquon Barkley Expected to Stay

A difficult and injury-plagued season might push the Philadelphia Eagles to adopt a seller’s approach ahead of the trade deadline. However, even if the organization moves in that direction, moving star running back Saquon Barkley is not on the agenda.

Trade Talks Involving Philadelphia Players

According to reporting from ESPN’s Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport, the Eagles have participated in trade discussions concerning certain members of their roster. At the same time, the front office has explicitly communicated to inquiring franchises that Barkley is completely off the table.

Trade speculation surrounding the 29-year-old running back is logical given that he still has slightly more than $35 million remaining on his current contract. Yet, if the team believes a swift turnaround is possible, management will likely hold onto such a vital offensive weapon.

While the current campaign may be difficult to rescue, improved health and a productive offseason to address roster weaknesses could quickly position the franchise for success. The front office could listen if an extraordinary proposal arrives, but parting with Barkley for a modest return would be illogical.

Barkley is predicted to remain with the Eagles.
