Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell remains hospitalized following a neck injury sustained during Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, though early medical reports indicate positive signs for his recovery.
Incident on the Pitch
The 26-year-old player was injured in the fourth quarter after hitting his head while executing a tackle on tight end TJ Hockenson. He remained lying face down on the ground and required immediate medical attention before medical staff removed him from the field on a stretcher.
Team Statement and Player Background
In an official statement, the franchise reported that Campbell is resting and recovering at a local medical center. The team added that preliminary signs are encouraging, though they will withhold further details out of respect for the player and his family.
The Lions went on to secure a 19-15 victory over the Vikings after play resumed following the stoppage. Campbell joined the team as the 18th overall selection in the 2023 draft and signed a contract extension in May that keeps him with the franchise through the 2030 campaign.
