Bernhard Langer missed out on the PGA Tour Champions season finale for the first time since his debut season in 2007. The two-time Masters champion failed to qualify for the 36-man field at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship in Phoenix next week.
Missing the Season Finale
Langer, 69, ended the season ranked 45th in the Schwab Cup standings. He managed only two top-10 finishes across his final 14 tournament starts dating back to April. He chose to skip an event in Arkansas to avoid playing four consecutive weeks.
Reflecting on his career motivations, he said last month at the Furyk & Friends event in Florida, “I still have goals to win tournaments and to finish as good as I can week after week. I still enjoy competing.”
A Historic Streak Comes to an End
Langer holds the record with 47 victories on the PGA Tour Champions, alongside 12 senior major titles and six Schwab Cup trophies.
This year marked the first time since turning 50 in 2007 that he did not secure a victory on either the PGA Tour Champions or the Legends Tour in Europe.
