Alabama reserve defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. has been dismissed from the football program following allegations that he threatened a police officer involved in his previous arrest last year.
Recent Arrest and Dismissal
Kirkpatrick was arrested on Friday, facing misdemeanor charges of doxing and harassing communications directed at police. Following the arrest, he was initially suspended for Alabama’s game against Texas A&M on Saturday.
On Tuesday, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer announced the decision to remove the player permanently. DeBoer stated that Kirkpatrick would no longer be part of the program because he failed to meet the standards and expectations established for the team.
Allegations and Previous Incidents
According to documents obtained by WBRC and The Tuscaloosa Thread, Kirkpatrick allegedly sent a profane message to an officer and posted a photo of the officer and his family on social media.
Kirkpatrick previously faced a suspension during the latter half of the 2025 season following an arrest on three counts of reckless endangerment, along with one count each of attempting to elude and speeding. Although he rejoined the team in the spring, he faced additional legal trouble in June when he was charged with unlawfully operating a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident.
The defensive back, who is the son of former Alabama and NFL cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick Sr., had appeared in each of the team’s first seven games of the current season.
