Major League Baseball confirmed Saturday that right-handed relief pitcher Jyun-Yue Tseng, who spent six professional seasons with the Fubon Guardians in Taiwan’s Chinese Professional Baseball League, is entering the posting system.
Negotiation Timeline and Stats
The 25-year-old pitcher can sign with any MLB franchise as a free agent between Sunday and Dec. 22. The Associated Press noted that the current collective bargaining agreement expires on Dec. 1, and a potential lockout by MLB could shorten this negotiation window by three weeks.
During the previous season, Tseng pitched 52.1 innings across 48 appearances, recording 25 saves while striking out 65 batters and walking only 13. His fastball reaches up to 97 mph, complemented by a near-33 percent strikeout rate and a nearly 31 percent whiff rate.
Potential Landing Spots and Pitch Arsenal
The Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Los Angeles Dodgers have reportedly demonstrated varying degrees of interest in the reliever. According to Bleacher Nation, the Cubs might view him as a developmental addition at a cost-effective price point rather than an immediate high-impact bullpen piece.
Tseng utilizes a slider, a splitter, and a fastball that touches 97.5 mph with promising pitch characteristics. Standing at 5-foot-8 and 150 pounds, he also represented Chinese Taipei in the World Baseball Classic, throwing two scoreless innings with two strikeouts and earning a crucial save in a 5-4 extra-inning victory over Korea.
Tseng will now pursue an opportunity in the major leagues following a strong 2026 campaign.
