Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has admitted his side are conceding too many goals after suffering a third consecutive Premier League defeat, but insists there is no reason to panic.
First-Half Deficit Proves Costly
City were punished for a poor first-half performance in the 3-1 loss to Nottingham Forest, falling two goals behind before attempting to mount a comeback after the break. Speaking to 101 Great Goals and BBC Match of the Day, Maresca admitted City had failed to match their opponents physically during a disappointing first half. The manager stated that first-half intensity, winning duels, and second balls were lacking, noting that the team tried to react at 2-0 down but it was too late.
Asked why his players had struggled to compete in the opening stages, the Italian explained that he needed to analyze the situation because it was the first time his team lacked intensity in the opening 45 minutes. He noted that the second half was better and that the squad needed to understand the reasons behind the slump to prevent it from recurring.
Maintaining Perspective and Calm
Despite City’s recent struggles, Maresca believes his side must maintain perspective after a run of seven consecutive wins was followed by three straight defeats. The manager plans to use the international break to examine what has gone wrong and address the problems affecting his team.
He emphasized the need for balance after alternating between a seven-game winning streak and a three-game losing streak, concluding with a clear message that there is no panic within the camp.
