Following an intense eleven-month season, the final eight competitors for the prestigious ATP Finals in Turin have been officially determined. The conclusion of the Rolex Paris Masters finalized the qualification list, showcasing a mix of seasoned champions and exciting debutants who secured their places through strong late-season performances.
Top Seeds and Returning Stars
Alexander Zverev enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed for the first time after a stellar season highlighted by two Major titles and the year-end No. 1 ranking, despite a 3-9 record against top-10 opponents. Following him is Carlos Alcaraz, who earned his fifth consecutive appearance at the season finale despite missing nearly five months with a wrist injury. American Ben Shelton also punched his ticket to Turin following a standout North American hard-court swing that included a Canadian Masters victory and a US Open final appearance. Daniil Medvedev rounds out the returning veterans, making his seventh career appearance at the event on the fast indoor hard courts where he previously claimed the trophy.
New Faces and Home Representation
Flavio Cobolli will proudly represent the home crowd in Turin after a breakthrough year that featured multiple Major quarterfinals and a French Open final appearance. Meanwhile, Arthur Fils overcame previous injury concerns to secure his ATP Finals debut, relying on exceptional consistency in best-of-three matches throughout the season to lock down a top-8 world ranking.
The Race for the Final Spots
The battle for the final qualification spots went down to the wire at the Rolex Paris Masters after early exits from Alex de Minaur and Novak Djokovic left the door open. Tommy Paul missed out on qualification following a three-set loss to Shelton, which simultaneously secured Frances Tiafoe his first-ever appearance at the season-ending tournament. The final spot came down to a decisive quarterfinal match between Taylor Fritz and Carlos Alcaraz. Fritz held match point before Alcaraz orchestrated a stunning comeback victory, denying Fritz and sending Rafael Jodar to Turin for his ATP Finals debut in his very first season on the tour.
Two alternates, Alex de Minaur and Taylor Fritz, will also travel to Turin as the season concludes under a new rule making the Rolex Paris Masters the final event counting toward qualification.
