Harry Kane Signs New Bayern Munich Contract Until 2029

England captain Harry Kane has signed a three-year contract extension with Bayern Munich, committing his future to the club until 2029. The announcement came on Thursday morning, capping off a remarkable period for the 33-year-old striker following his Ballon d’Or win in London last week.

Kane Reflects on Personal and Professional Success

Following the announcement, Kane described the current phase of his career as the best time of his life both on and off the pitch. He acknowledged that managing the recent mental and emotional attention has been intense, but emphasized that he remains grounded and fully focused on maintaining his form in Bavaria.

Since transferring to Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023, Kane has scored 156 goals in 161 appearances while helping the side claim two Bundesliga titles. Kane stated that he always believed in his ability to perform at the highest level, having moved to Germany with the expectation of competing for league, cup, and Champions League trophies every season.

Club Hierarchy Praises Striker’s Leadership

The new agreement reportedly makes the England captain the highest-paid player in Europe. Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl commended Kane’s professionalism and character, pointing out his role as a team leader. Eberl highlighted a speech Kane delivered to the squad following a 4-1 loss against Barcelona early in manager Vincent Kompany’s tenure as a key example of his influence.

Bayern Munich chief executive officer Jan-Christian Dreesen stated that Kane has proven worth every cent since arriving as the club’s largest transfer three years ago. Dreesen explained that awarding top contracts to leading players is a logical step for Bayern as the club balances financial sustainability with the necessity to remain competitive against Europe’s wealthiest teams.
