The Indianapolis Colts have fielded numerous inquiries regarding several of their players, including running back Jonathan Taylor, according to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz. Despite the high level of interest, the organization reportedly plans to postpone any trade activity until following their Week 9 home matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
Strategic Patience in the Trade Market
Industry speculation suggests that the Colts may have acted prematurely when they traded veteran players Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner last week. Some observers believe the team failed to secure the maximum possible return for those two long-time standouts. By delaying further moves, the Indianapolis front office appears to be attempting to optimize the value of their remaining veteran assets.
Beyond Taylor, other players drawing interest from potential suitors include starting nose tackle Grover Stewart and young slot wide receiver Josh Downs. Downs reportedly requested a trade from the organization last week. While these players have generated varying levels of interest, the team is focused on ensuring they receive appropriate compensation for each individual.
Expectations for Jonathan Taylor
Among the players currently available, Jonathan Taylor is expected to command the most significant return in terms of draft capital. League insiders suggest the Colts are aiming for a trade package similar to the one the Carolina Panthers received for Christian McCaffrey. At a minimum, the team is reportedly seeking a first-round draft pick in exchange for the running back.
The NFL trade deadline is scheduled for Tuesday, November 10th, at 4 PM EST.
