The National Football League’s Week 9 schedule features several major storylines following an eventful start to the week on Thursday night. As CBS Sports Headlines reports, the Baltimore Ravens fell 33-10 to the Jacksonville Jaguars, surrendering two 50-yard plays after entering the week with a 12-game streak of preventing them. Running back Derrick Henry moved past Pro Football Hall of Famers LaDainian Tomlinson and Jerome Bettis into seventh place on the all-time rushing list, though he was held under 60 yards for his fourth consecutive game in the loss.
Joe Milton-Led Eagles Set to Upset Giants
The Philadelphia Eagles are preparing to snap their six-game losing streak by defeating the first-place New York Giants on Sunday. DraftKings Sportsbook lists the 4-2-1 Giants as 3.5-point road favorites over the 2-6 Eagles, marking the first time the Giants have been favored in the matchup since 2016. Philadelphia will turn to new starting quarterback Joe Milton III, who was acquired from the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad after Tanner McKee dropped all three of his starts this season. Milton spent time as Dak Prescott’s backup and received praise from Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer, who compared Milton’s arm strength to that of Brett Favre. Milton posted 378 passing yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions while completing 67.4% of his passes across three preseason appearances in 2026.
Vikings Defense to Trouble Josh Allen
Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores leads the NFL in multiple defensive categories, including scoring defense, red zone defense, quarterback pressure rate, and a blitz rate of 73.6%. The fierce pass rush will face a Buffalo Bills offensive line allowing a 38% quarterback pressure rate. Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen has previously struggled in primetime against top defenses, absorbing a career-high eight sacks against the Houston Texans last season. The Vikings are projected to sack Allen more than five times on Monday night, a milestone he has reached only four times in his nine-season career.
Cowboys Defense and Jets Ground Game Predictions
The Dallas Cowboys defense will travel to face the Indianapolis Colts and hold them under 20 points. Dallas has surrendered 29 points per game since 2025 following the trade of edge rusher Micah Parsons, but they will face a Colts team coming off a 42-7 defeat and quarterback Daniel Jones, whose 68.7 passer rating is the lowest in the league. Meanwhile, New York Jets running back Braelon Allen will continue his strong form against the Kansas City Chiefs. Following Breece Hall’s quadriceps injury in Week 3, Allen has amassed 504 rushing yards—the second-most in the league since Hall’s injury—and aims to become the first Jet with five consecutive games of 100-plus scrimmage yards since Thomas Jones in 2008.
Dolphins to Contain Jared Goff
The Detroit Lions boast the NFL’s top total offense, averaging 395.4 yards per game, with quarterback Jared Goff averaging 280.6 passing yards per game alongside 15 touchdowns and just one interception. Despite Goff’s strong start, the Miami Dolphins will limit him to under 200 passing yards on Sunday. As reported by CBS Sports Headlines, Miami’s defensive effort will be spearheaded by 2024 first-round edge rusher Chop Robinson, who leads the NFL with a 20.6% quarterback pressure rate among players with at least 100 pass-rush snaps.
