Josh Hokit Denies Gable Steveson Trains at Jackson Wink

Josh Hokit does not view Gable Steveson as a teammate at the Jackson Wink academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Despite their shared affiliation with the renowned gym, Hokit (10-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) rejected the connection after past verbal exchanges between the two fighters, including remarks from Steveson suggesting Hokit should drop to light heavyweight.

Training Disagreements and Team Dynamics

Speaking to Jorge Masvidal as reported by sports.yahoo.com, Hokit expressed willingness to face anyone after capturing the championship. Hokit blamed Jon Jones for Steveson’s knockout loss to Sean Sharaf at UFC 331, pointing out that Steveson trains individually with Jones rather than at the gym. Hokit stated that Steveson claims association with the camp but is absent from the facility, emphasizing that his own team remains close-knit and excludes Steveson from their inner circle.

Upcoming Championship Bout

Hokit prepares to face champion Ciryl Gane (14-2 MMA, 11-2 UFC) for the heavyweight title. The matchup serves as the main event for UFC 334, scheduled for Nov. 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York and broadcast on Paramount+.
