Mourinho Says Real Madrid Needs Three Years to Reach Peak

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho stated that it will take three years for his team to reach its full potential. Speaking prior to his side’s Champions League trip to face AEK Athens, the Portuguese coach emphasized that building a complete squad requires time.

Squad Depth and Attacking Options

Mourinho, who signed a three-year deal during the summer, was asked how long it would take to achieve perfection at the Santiago Bernabeu. “Three years. Three seasons,” Mourinho replied.

He also addressed the selection decisions surrounding his forward options, which include Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappe, and Yan Diomande. Mourinho pointed out that Brahim and Endrick are also in the squad, stating that having a high number of quality players is never a problem for him. He identified Vinicius as the most natural left-wing option while adding that multiple attackers can operate across various positions.

Warning Ahead of Trip to Greece

Turning his focus to Wednesday’s match in Greece, Mourinho warned his team against underestimating AEK Athens. He recalled that Real Madrid has historically struggled in the country, winning only once in eight total visits.

“Greece is always difficult, and Real Madrid, the king of Europe, has achieved only one win in eight visits to Greece,” Mourinho explained. He added that every opponent is highly motivated when facing Real Madrid’s white shirt.

“It is a match in which we must be at the peak of our concentration and readiness, and if we are not, we will not win,” Mourinho said.
