Asa Tribe Misses England Lions Tour After Kenya Trip

Glamorgan batter Asa Tribe was prevented from joining the England Lions squad in the West Indies due to a recent visit to Kenya. Tribe traveled to Nairobi in late October to play three one-day matches for Jersey against Kenya, Kuwait, and Papua New Guinea.

Entry Restrictions Over Health Concerns

Following his matches in Nairobi, Tribe was scheduled to link up with the England Lions for a series of T20 and one-day fixtures against West Indies A. However, authorities in Saint Kitts and Nevis, the host nation for the matches, denied him entry because of concerns regarding an outbreak of the Ebola virus in Kenya.

A spokesperson for the England and Wales Cricket Board told BBC Sport Wales, “Saint Kitts & Nevis currently have a 21-day non-entry rule in place for non-nationals who have been in Kenya due to the Ebola situation in Kenya and seven other countries in Africa.”

The spokesperson added, “Asa is back in the UK, and we are in touch with the relevant authorities.”

England Lions Tour Action

While the squad continued without Tribe, the England Lions secured an eight-wicket victory in the opening T20 match on Sunday. The team bowled out West Indies A for 98 runs, with Naavya Sharma claiming four wickets and Scott Currie taking three.

Captain Thomas Rew then scored an unbeaten 50 as the touring side chased down the target, reaching 101-2 in just 10.1 overs.
