Commanders Host Eagles in NFC East Primetime Matchup

The Washington Commanders (1-4-1) will host the Philadelphia Eagles (2-4) on “Sunday Night Football” at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, as both NFC East rivals look to turn their seasons around. The game is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 1 at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.

Philadelphia claimed a 24-22 victory when the two teams played in Week 1, but both rosters look significantly different entering this rematch. The Commanders enter the contest as six-point favorites according to DraftKings, while Washington head coach Dan Quinn seeks a crucial victory following his team’s bye week.

Injury Troubles for Both Squads

Philadelphia’s roster has been severely depleted by injuries, most notably losing starting quarterback Jalen Hurts for the remainder of the season due to blood clots. Reserve quarterback Tanner McKee has taken over the offense, which ranks 29th in points per game and 32nd in yards per play. Running back Saquon Barkley will play despite hamstring and back issues, but wide receivers DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks, along with linebacker Jihaad Campbell, have all been ruled out.

The Eagles’ offensive struggles will meet a Washington defense that ranks 31st in points per game allowed and 22nd in yards per play allowed. The Commanders will also be without key interior defensive linemen Daron Payne, who suffered a season-ending injury on Friday, and Javon Kinlaw.

Daniels Seeks Win Amid Primetime Slump

Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels has performed well since returning from a dislocated elbow, though he has not won a start since Week 5 of 2025, going 0-7-1 across his last eight starts while missing 10 games to injury. Over his past two appearances, Daniels threw for 199 yards while rushing for 103 yards and two touchdowns in a 27-27 tie with the New York Giants, followed by his second career 300-yard passing game against the San Francisco 49ers.

With top receiver Terry McLaurin sidelined for the season with a torn patellar tendon, Washington is expected to rely heavily on Stefon Diggs, Chig Okonkwo, and Antonio Williams in the passing game. Washington enters the contest hoping to snap a six-game losing streak in primetime broadcasts, the second-longest active streak in the NFL behind the Indianapolis Colts.

Despite Washington playing at home off a rest week, CBS Sports predicts a close defensive battle, projecting a 20-17 victory for the visiting Eagles.
