Jets Have No Plans to Trade Star Wide Receiver Garrett Wilson

The New York Jets do not plan to trade wide receiver Garrett Wilson prior to the upcoming deadline, despite already possessing a significant amount of 2027 draft capital. ESPN’s Adam Schefter cited a well-placed source reporting that there is “no way” the team will deal Wilson before the November 10 deadline.

Organization Stance and Recent Speculation

Schefter stated that the Jets have “no interest” in moving their star wide receiver. Leadership at the top of the organization reportedly loves the player and wants “no part” of trading him.

Trade speculation surrounding Wilson intensified following a Week 7 loss to the Miami Dolphins. During the fourth quarter of the game, a CBS broadcast showed the receiver having what appeared to be a heated exchange with quarterback Geno Smith and pass game coordinator Seth Ryan.

Following the match, Wilson downplayed the interaction while speaking to reporters, explaining that he merely felt “disappointed” with the team’s performance.

Wilson said they were collaborating and that he did not believe he was speaking directly to Geno. He added that both individuals felt heated regarding the team’s gameplay up to that point and wanted to increase their aggressiveness.

Head coach Aaron Glenn addressed the matter on Monday, stating that the situation was being “overblown” and that Wilson was attempting to energize the offense. Amid the ongoing rumors, Wilson confirmed to reporters on Wednesday that he does not plan to request a trade and wishes to stay with the Jets.

Roster Value and Future Outlook

Substantial discussions regarding a potential trade involving Wilson have not materialized. Part of the reason stems from the fact that the Jets do not require additional draft assets, and Wilson provides immense value, particularly with the possibility of the team drafting a young quarterback in 2027.

New York currently holds three first-round selections for the upcoming draft, with all three picks positioned in the top 12 based on current standings. At 26 years old, Wilson has four seasons remaining on his current contract following the conclusion of this year.

Despite the offensive struggles the Jets have experienced throughout the 2026 season, Wilson remains on track to record his fourth 1,000-yard campaign in five years, having accumulated 444 receiving yards and three touchdowns through the first seven games.
