Jersey Defeats Denmark by 72 Runs in Cricket Qualifier

Jonty Jenner and Josh Lawrenson demonstrated their strong form as Jersey secured a 72-run victory against Denmark in the ICC Challenge League held in Nairobi.

Strong Batting Performance

The Islanders had already secured their spot in the next phase of qualification for the Cricket World Cup, though they needed to recover following a defeat against Kuwait earlier in the week. Jenner and Lawrenson both contributed 81 runs each, helping Jersey achieve a total of 312 for eight wickets from their 50 overs. Additional runs came from Julius Sumerauer and Benjamin Ward, who added 43 and 31 runs respectively.

Bowling Attack Secures Victory

During Denmark’s turn at bat, the team struggled to match the required pace. Lucky Ali managed to score 63 runs, but the effort fell short against the bowling attacks of Zak Tribe and Benjamin Ward, who each took three wickets. Ultimately, the Danish side was bowled out for 240 runs.

Jersey’s final fixture in the Challenge League A campaign is scheduled against Qatar on Saturday, following a previous encounter in August 2025 where Jersey claimed an eight-wicket win.
