Lando Norris’ new race team, LN4 Fusion, has secured a place on the Formula 2 grid for the 2027 season. The squad was chosen as the sole new team for the upcoming three-year cycle, joining 10 existing teams on the grid.
Team Formation and Leadership
Although campaigns in Formula 3 and Formula 4 were announced when the team was established in September, LN4 Fusion still had to complete an application process for F2. With that process now concluded, the team’s spot has been confirmed following the acquisition of assets from the former AIX squad.
F2 CEO Bruno Michel stated that the championship received strong interest from global teams for the new three-year cycle. Michel praised the retained teams for showing consistent commitment to preparing young drivers for Formula 1 and expressed confidence that LN4 Fusion will bring considerable expertise and make a valuable contribution to the championship.
Dan Hazlewood, the established Fusion karting chief, will direct LN4 Fusion’s British operations. Meanwhile, European activities will be managed by former Prema team members, featuring ex-boss Rene Rosin as a consultant and team principal alongside former technical chief Guillaume Capietto as racing director.
Future Ambitions in F2
LN4 CEO Dan Richards expressed immense pride in the selection for the FIA Formula 2 grid, calling it a significant milestone and a crucial step toward the vision established during the team’s September launch. Richards emphasized that the team’s ambition has always involved creating a competitive motorsport organization featuring a clear driver development pathway, with F2 acting as the vital final preparation stage before Formula 1.
Richards added that while securing the spot so quickly is a fantastic achievement, the team recognizes the intense competition and challenges ahead. The current focus centers on establishing proper foundations, recruiting exceptional personnel, and providing drivers with optimal opportunities to compete at the highest level while expressing gratitude to Bruno Michel, the FIA, and the F2 organization.
The confirmed 2027-2029 FIA Formula 2 lineup comprises ART Grand Prix, Campos Racing, DAMS, Hitech, Invicta Racing, LN4 Fusion, MP Motorsport, Prema Racing, Rodin Motorsport, Trident, and Van Amersfoort Racing.
