Double British Touring Car Championship title winner Tom Ingram will remain at Excelr8 Motorsport until at least the end of the decade. The new agreement locks the 33-year-old driver into the Hyundai squad for the 2028 and 2029 seasons, following a previous deal that already covered the upcoming campaign.
Long-Term Commitment and Technical Plans
According to Autosport.com, the extended contract provides another significant boost for the BTCC following Alliance Racing securing Ash Sutton for five additional seasons. The Vertu-backed team is expected to campaign the Hyundai i30 N Fastback for its eighth consecutive BTCC season next year alongside further winter development, while the introduction of a new car remains a possibility for 2028.
Reflecting on his time with the organization, where he has secured 29 race wins across six seasons alongside championship victories in 2022 and 2025, Ingram expressed his dedication to the squad. “It goes without saying that I’m delighted to extend my deal with Team Vertu to at least the end of the 2029 season as this team feels like home and there is nowhere else I’d rather be,” he stated.
Ingram noted that when he initially joined Excelr8, the group was relatively new with high ambitions. He highlighted shared achievements ranging from an initial victory at Snetterton to clinching titles at Brands Hatch, emphasizing that winning the championship back next year remains the primary objective for the group.
Team Leadership Perspectives
Excelr8 team owner Justina Williams praised the driver’s impact since his arrival. “From the moment he first got behind the wheel of the Hyundai, Tom has become a crucial part of the Excelr8 story and his drive and desire to succeed has been reflected in the results we have secured together over the past six seasons,” she explained.
Williams expressed confidence in future success and confirmed that preparations are underway to fight for a third championship title in 2027.
