Pittsburgh Steelers legendary linebacker Jack Ham has been hospitalized in Washington while preparing to work as a commentator for Penn State’s radio broadcast ahead of the game against Washington. The 77-year-old Pro Football Hall of Famer is currently in stable condition, according to remarks shared by Penn State head coach Matt Campbell, who credited Ham’s radio partner for saving his life.
Praise for Radio Partner and Medical Team
Matt Campbell expressed gratitude during his comments, highlighting the swift actions of Ham’s broadcasting colleague. “First of all, I think we should all know Steve Jones and the heroic effort that he did for somebody he loves dearly,” Campbell stated. “And if it’s not for Steve and what he did, I don’t know if we would have as good of news as we do right now. And then I want to also thank the University of Washington, their athletic director, their emergency team were incredible. They were outstanding. I think, hopefully, as all of you know, Jack is in stable condition right now, and obviously, the emotion of that.”
Legendary Football Career
Jack Ham built a storied career as a cornerstone of the Pittsburgh Steelers defense during the 1970s, contributing to all four of the franchise’s Super Bowl titles from that decade. He earned six All-Pro selections during his dominant professional career and cemented his legacy with an induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1988.
