Jon Rahm holds a one-shot lead heading into the final round of the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship at Yas Links GC. He sits at 18 under par following a six-under 66 on Saturday, placing him ahead of a chasing pack that includes Tyrell Hatton and Rory McIlroy.

Chasing Pack and Leaderboard Standings

Tyrell Hatton shares second place alongside Francesco Laporta, as both golfers carded rounds of 67 to sit one stroke behind Rahm. Rory McIlroy is two shots off the lead, positioned just behind fourth-placed Adam Scott. Scott maintained a bogey-free tournament with a 66 to reach 15 under, one shot behind McIlroy. This leaves three Masters champions—Rahm, McIlroy, and Scott—occupying positions in the top five of the leaderboard ahead of the final day.

McIlroy’s Up-and-Down Round

McIlroy is chasing a record-equalling eighth Race to Dubai title following his second-round performance that featured a career-high 11 birdies. During Saturday’s action, he briefly shared the lead before dropping a shot with a bogey on the par-three 17th. His five-under 67 also featured a double-bogey six at the 10th hole, which temporarily halted a run of seven consecutive birdies between holes seven and 14.

DP World Tour Playoffs Context

The tournament forms part of the two-week playoffs on the DP World Tour, which began with 70 players competing for a $9m prize fund in Abu Dhabi. From this event, the top 50 ranked players will advance to the $10m finals event in Dubai scheduled for the following week. McIlroy is currently projected to rise to No 2 in the Road to Dubai rankings. Meanwhile, Eugenio Chacarra shot a five-under 67 on Saturday to reach eight under par, tying for 29th place in Abu Dhabi.

The final round of the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship broadcasts live on Sky Sports Golf starting at 6.30am on Sunday.
