The NFL announced a rare double flex scheduling decision on Monday, altering broadcast networks for four upcoming games across Week 9 and Week 11 and adjusting the kickoff time for one of the matchups. The announcement marks only the second time this season that the league has exercised its flex scheduling authority.
Week 9 Schedule Adjustments
In Week 9, scheduled for Nov. 8, the Las Vegas Raiders’ game against the San Francisco 49ers has been moved to 4:25 p.m. ET on Fox after originally being slotted for 4:05 p.m. ET on CBS. The move places the matchup into Fox’s late-afternoon national doubleheader window alongside the Packers-Patriots and Cardinals-Seahawks games. Consequently, the Houston Texans’ road game against the Los Angeles Chargers will serve as the sole 4:05 p.m. ET fixture on CBS.
Additionally, the Detroit Lions’ visit to the Miami Dolphins in Week 9 will now air on Fox at 1 p.m. ET, shifting from its initial CBS broadcast assignment.
Week 11 Broadcast Swaps
For Week 11 on Nov. 22, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions matchup at 1 p.m. ET has moved from CBS to Fox. Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills game at 1 p.m. ET will shift from Fox to CBS, allowing CBS to feature Bills quarterback Josh Allen after Fox aired a Buffalo game earlier in the year.
Sunday Night Football Decision Pending
The league still faces a decision regarding the Week 9 Sunday Night Football game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Chicago Bears. Although Tampa Bay holds a 2-5 record, the team has won two of its past three games following an 0-4 start. With this game standing as Chicago’s only scheduled Sunday night appearance, the league has until the end of the day on Tuesday, Oct. 27, to decide whether to flex the primetime slot.
