The Chicago Bears secured a dominant 34-17 victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Monday, Nov. 2, at Lumen Field. Improving to 6-2, the Bears showcased their rising status as serious contenders, while the reigning champion Seahawks dropped to 4-4.
Winners of the Week 8 Showdown
All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons delivered a stellar performance in his Chicago debut following a trade from the Tennessee Titans. Wearing the No. 99 jersey, Simmons recorded six tackles, two tackles for losses, and a sack to bolster the league’s ninth-ranked defense.
Quarterback Caleb Williams improved to 3-0 since returning from a hamstring injury, becoming the first quarterback to pass for over 200 yards against Seattle’s top-ranked defense this season. Veteran wide receiver Cooper Kupp caught his first regular-season touchdown pass in Seattle since 2019, while ESPN’s broadcast introduced a fresh musical touch with The Bangles’ “Manic Monday.” Additionally, the San Francisco 49ers emerged as winners during their bye week, holding a 2½-game division lead.
Losers and Struggles in Seattle
The Bears struggled in the run game, with running backs managing just 86 yards on 2.7 yards per carry, though D’Andre Swift scored three touchdowns. Seattle’s ground game also sputtered as returning running backs Zach Charbonnet and Jadarian Price combined for only 52 rushing yards behind a reconfigured offensive line.
Seahawks kicker Jason Myers endured a rough night with a missed extra point and a blocked field goal. Meanwhile, quarterback Sam Darnold faced heavy pressure behind his new-look line, completing 17 of 34 passes for 188 yards, two touchdowns, and his ninth interception of the season.
Both teams will use the second half of the season to integrate new components and position themselves for a playoff push.
