Fulham and Newcastle Share Points in 1-1 Draw

Fulham and Newcastle played out a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage after substitute Rodrigo Muniz scored late to neutralize Jacob Murphy’s opener for the visitors.

Chances at Both Ends in First Half

The home side produced the first real threat of the match when Oscar Bobb tested Newcastle goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek, before Gonzalo Garcia headed over from a corner kick. Newcastle answered through Harvey Barnes, who was stopped twice by Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno, including an unusual save with his head during a one-on-one opportunity.

The visitors thought they had taken the lead in the 33rd minute when Dan Burn found the net from close range. However, the referee disallowed the goal after Yoane Wissa was penalized for pulling Timothy Castagne’s shirt in the buildup. Just before the interval, Fulham’s Josh King forced another save from Hornicek, leaving the sides level at half-time.

Late Exchange of Goals

The competitive tempo carried into the second half. Fulham midfielder Sander Berge sent an effort wide of the target, while Wissa struck the side-netting from a narrow angle for Newcastle.

Newcastle finally broke the deadlock in the 80th minute. Murphy intercepted an inaccurate pass from Berge, cut past defender Calvin Bassey, and curled a left-footed strike into the top corner. Fulham needed just three minutes to respond, as Cesar Palacios delivered a cross from the left flank for Muniz to finish past Hornicek.

Both goalkeepers were called into action during the closing moments. Leno denied Lewis Hall, while Hornicek made a save to push Ryan Sessegnon’s powerful stoppage-time shot wide. Following the international break, Fulham visit Manchester City on November 21, while Newcastle host Arsenal on the same day.
