Jonah Coleman and Rachaad White highlight the top running back options to target on the waiver wire ahead of Week 8. Both players carry significant upside and are worth spending considerable FAAB on to strengthen fantasy rosters.

Top Running Back Additions

Coleman, rostered in 68 percent of leagues on CBS Sports, returned from a four-game ankle injury absence in Week 7 to lead Denver’s backfield with nine carries for 54 yards and two receptions for 15 yards against Arizona. Sean Payton stated after the game that the team needs to get Coleman more touches. Despite competing with J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey, Coleman is expected to eventually lead the backfield and is worth at least 25 percent of remaining FAAB. He makes a viable flex option against Kansas City in Week 8.

White, rostered in 72 percent of leagues, spent Week 7 on a bye but remains the lead running back for Washington while Jacory Croskey-Merritt recovers from a groin injury. White requires at least 20 percent of remaining FAAB and enters Week 8 against Philadelphia as a borderline starter. During Week 6 against San Francisco, he recorded seven rushes for 27 yards alongside four catches for 30 yards and a touchdown. He shares duties with Austin Ekeler and Jeremy McNichols, but holds the highest upside among them in PPR formats, having reached at least 11.1 PPR points in three of his past four contests.

Quarterback Targets and Stashes

For managers checking shallow leagues, Kirk Cousins (76 percent rostered) and Aaron Rodgers (70 percent rostered) are worth monitoring. Cousins continues as the starter for the Raiders in Week 8 against the Jets, having scored at least 22.5 fantasy points in five of his previous six games. Rodgers faces Cleveland again in Week 8, making him a low-end starter option for deeper leagues following his 15.1-point outing against New Orleans. Meanwhile, Tyler Shough (93 percent rostered) can be dropped during his Week 8 bye after scoring 17.9 fantasy points or fewer in three of his last four games.

Wide Receiver and Tight End Options

At wide receiver, Omar Cooper Jr. (81 percent rostered) stands out after catching 11 passes for 218 yards and two touchdowns across his last two appearances against New England and Miami. Deebo Samuel (79 percent rostered) is managing a hamstring injury and sits on a bye in Week 8, but could return in Week 9. Chris Godwin (79 percent rostered) serves as a number three fantasy receiver against Atlanta if Emeka Egbuka cannot play, while Keenan Allen (76 percent rostered) remains a viable option in all formats heading into Jacksonville despite a quiet outing against Minnesota.

Among tight ends, Pat Freiermuth (67 percent rostered) provides an option in deeper leagues despite a slow recent stretch against Tampa Bay and New Orleans. Conversely, managers can move on from Mark Andrews (61 percent rostered), Jake Ferguson (53 percent rostered), and Dalton Schultz (44 percent rostered), all of whom have struggled to produce consistent touchdown numbers or productive yardage totals.

Streaming Defenses and Kickers

Defensive streaming options for Week 8 feature the Jacksonville Jaguars against Indianapolis, the Cincinnati Bengals hosting Tennessee, and the Chicago Bears traveling to Seattle. Kicker streaming targets include Cam Little facing Indianapolis, Chris Boswell playing against Chicago, and Matt Gay taking on the Jets.
