Milwaukee Brewers outfielder and team captain Christian Yelich shared his perspective following a tough 4-3 loss in extra innings against the Tampa Bay Rays during Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday.
Yelich Reflects on Game 4 Defeat
Addressing reporters after the Brewers missed a prime chance to close out the series, Yelich stated, “This stuff is not supposed to be easy. It’s supposed to test you.”
The Brewers fell behind 1-0 and 2-1 early on, but rallied both times to draw even in Game 4. Cooper Pratt contributed an RBI double, while David Hamilton hit a solo home run to keep Milwaukee in contention.
Extra-Inning Drama and Rays’ Comeback
Those clutch hits forced the matchup into extra innings. Following scoreless frames in the 10th and 11th, Pratt hit a solo home run in the top of the 12th to give the Brewers a 3-2 lead.
Milwaukee stood just three outs away from securing the first World Series title in franchise history when the bottom of the 12th inning unraveled. Junior Caminero reached first base via a throwing error by Joey Ortiz, prompting the introduction of pitcher Shane Drohan, who subsequently surrendered four straight singles.
Jonny DeLuca drove in the tying run with an RBI single, and Ben Williamson delivered the walk-off RBI single to hand the victory to the Rays and extend the series.
The Brewers maintain a 3-2 lead in the series, with projected National League Cy Young Award winner Jacob Misiorowski scheduled to start Game 5 on Wednesday.
